Privacy & Data Protection (GDPR) Policy
How we use UPRN, MPAN and MPRN data
Home Transition Reports are ordered by conveyancers as part of a property sale, purchase or mortgage. To create a report, we identify the reference numbers for the property. These relate to the property, not to any named person, but because they could identify the people who live there, we treat them as personal data under UK GDPR.
- Who we are. APOGEE PROPERTY AND UTILITY CONSULTANTS LIMITED, company no. 11208090,
Suite 2
Blount House Hall Park Way, Telford, TF3 4NQ, is the controller of this data.
Contact: michael.minton@apogeepropertyandutilityconsultants.com. - What we use. The property's UPRN (address reference), MPAN (electricity supply point reference) and MPRN (gas supply point reference), together with the property address. We use no names, energy consumption data or smart meter data.
- Where it comes from. The conveyancer who ordered the report, open UPRN data, Ordnance Survey AddressBase, and licensed energy industry data providers.
- Why we use it. Only to link the property to its electricity network, substation and gas supply, so we can create the Home Transition Report the conveyancer ordered.
- Legal basis. Legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): the parties' need to understand a property's energy and grid position during a sale, purchase or mortgage, in the same way as other conveyancing searches. We have assessed this against the privacy of the people who live at the property.
- Who sees it. The ordering Company and their client, and our hosting and service providers, who work under contract with us. We do not sell it. We do not use it to contact energy suppliers, switch suppliers or change any supply.
- Where it is stored. In the United Kingdom. It is not transferred outside the UK.
- How long we keep it. We delete it, along with the data used to create the report, 90 days after we deliver the report. We keep the order record (who ordered it and when) for 6 years to meet legal and accounting obligations.
- Automated processing. The report is generated automatically. It makes no decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on anyone.
- Your rights. If you own or live at the property, you can ask to see this data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict how we use it, or object to us using it. Contact [privacy email]; we reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
